How It All Got Started

Once upon a time there was an idea that bringing Black women that blog together was a dream. If you are not familiar with Cincy Cocoa Bloggers network, well this introduction post is for you.

Back in 2019, I had became interested in connecting with more black women who blogged in my area because for some time I did not know many who did in the city of Cincinnati nor in the state of Ohio to be totally honesty. I wanted build new relationships with more women whom I felt like I could connect and that looked like me. For a few weeks I would search through various social media outlets such as Facebook and Instagram, clicking on hashtags that would be used to search for bloggers in my area when I noticed not that many black women were visible.

I decided to reach out to the few ladies I found under the hashtag #cincinnatiblogger and ask them would they be willing to meet up and connect with other local bloggers. A message led to a brunch and from then budding affiliations began.

Fast forward to 2021 when my now co-chair Venita Walker asked me would I be interested in a co-chair in running the network and we haven’t looked back since! This year we held our first brunch at Red Whale Rentals in Hyde Park where we had amazing sponsors treat our girls to their dope products and services and all summer long we collaborated with some awesome brands. Our main focus is to promote “collaboration over competition”. We all can win! Now we are prepping for more fun partnerships for the rest of 2021 and 2022 and can’t wait to take our supporters along for the ride!

- Thank you for being here
